Project50

Project50 is a self-portrait project that I started the day I turned 49, May 14, 2011.  The idea is to take a self-portrait every 14 day of the month until I turn 50.  Plus include a little fact about myself.  This project has a number of purposes.
  1. I wanted to celebrate turning 50.  Not be depressed by it.
  2. To force me to be creative with my self portrait once a month.  Sometimes the best model is your self.  You will never hear your self complain.
  3. To aid in learning my camera inside and out.

50 Years OLD!

I just love taking photos through clear marbles
and crystal balls.  It is my version of the fish eye.
It is like a totally different, tiny little world.
Hard to believe a year has already gone by.  What a
wonderful year it has been.  I really enjoyed doing this
project.  Showed others at my camera club and
they have been inspired to do their own self
portraits.  That makes me feel good that I can
inspire others.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

49 years 11 months old.

Growing up I had beautiful, long, thick eye lashes.
Unfortunately as I got older and acquired
more responsibility I developed a really bad habit.
When I would go into a deep thought over something
going on in my life I would unconsciously pluck my
eyebrows and eye lashes out.  I mean out.  I would have
bald spots.  Wouldn't realize what I had done until it was too late.
Drives my husband nuts.  In the past year I have gotten a bit
better about that. :)

Growing up we always had a dog or two.
I love my dogs and can't imagine not having one.
Growing up I thought I would be a veterinarian until
I was told that I may have to put a dog to sleep.
Gave up on that idea. Then I thought I would
be an anthropologist until my professor told
me I would most likely end up teaching.
Became a Software Engineer instead.

Happy Valentines Day.
I always love going to a store and squeezing the stuffed animals etc.
This little heart belongs to my daughter. Which is a gift from her boyfriend.
I borrowed it for the photo shoot :)

As a child I loved the outdoors.
Especially exploring the woods behind my house.
I had such an imagination :)
First self portrait of 2012. WooHoo! 50 here I come.

Christmas is my favorite holiday.  The time of year I get to decorate my tree with all the handmade ornaments and the kids photo ornaments.  Plus I just love buying gifts for my family and friends.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I love reading, seriously! I love reading photography magazines, human interest stories and of course romance novels. My gramma introduced me to romance novels when I was a pre-teen.

Since October is breast cancer awareness month I thought it befitting to bring out my pink breast cancer awareness rubber ducky to be in the photo with me. I pray that a cure is found so no one has to lose a loved one to this dreaded disease.

Growing up I envisioned being an actress. I was always acting things out in my head. Too embarrassed to do it in front of people. Figured I could do it if I could hide behind a mask.

Photography is a hobby of mine.  I just love looking at photos and taking them.  My first camera was a Nikon.  Had a few different cameras in between.  Went back to a Nikon last year and love it.

Happy Birthday to me.
Found my first silver hair when I was 21.
Gave up dying it over two years ago.

  1. Nice additions at the end! Those eyelashes are divine! The colored balloons in the marble are fun and show that you can add another year to your age but you NEVER have to grow up! A wonderful blog for an all-around wonderful woman!
